Do You Prefer "Fashion Victim" Or "Ensembly Challenged"?

Newsflash: According to sources (ie: the interweb), a sequel to the 1995 movie Clueless in is in the works. Alicia Silverstone is set to star and filming begins in April.

Now, I know what you're thinking: What sort of vapid twit is going to go see a remake of a 90's highschool chick flick?

This sort of vapid twit. The one right here.

You know that question you're always asked during group icebreaker games - what five things would you take with you to a desert island? My five things:

1. Bottled Water
2. The Collected Works of Jane Austen
3. A Solar-Powered Generator to power...
4. A VCR on which to watch...
5. The Movie Clueless

I love old movies; I adore indie movies; I could watch musicals all day long, but there is not a single film I love more than Clueless. Maybe it was the impressionable age I saw it at - sixth grade - or perhaps it's the unparalleled quotability of the movie ("Searching for a boy in high school is as useless as searching for meaning in a Pauly Shore movie!"), but for the last decade it has been my go-to comfort flick. When it's on t.v., friends I haven't seen in months call me to let me know. When it's time for Halloween, I know I can always dress up as Cher Horowitz (witness this incriminating photo from junior year of college-->). When a girl shows up to gym class wearing flannel, I know exactly what cutting remark to say.

I am thrilled and had to share the news. Maybe in the sequel we find out if Cher really saved herself for Luke Perry! So, what movie would you have a sequel made for, friends? Any characters you're dying to see get one more shot at the big screen?

Dude, I'm so in love with Clueless and I'm actually afraid of this sequel!! What if they ruin it? What if there's no Josh? I*heart* Josh almost as much as I *heart* the actor Paul Rudd in RL(Have you seen Knocked Up? Forty-year-old Virgin? I Could Never Be Your Woman? A guy who makes movie choices like these is my kind of man!). They better have the whole cast back even *cringe* Brittany Murphy.
Did you ever watch the Clueless tv show? Or read all of the follow up books to the movie that only the truest nerd on the planet would read? Did you buy the Clueless digital organizer? The Clueless Phone? LOL! Yep, I did it all(minus phone. Couldn't find it anywhere!) even though the show pretty much sucked and the books weren't exactly at John Green or Maureen Johnson's level. The digital organizer was cool-and, um, yeah, I still have it!lol.
I am wondering what job they'll give Cher(fashion consultant to the stars?).
Okay, great blog!!:)

PS: Aww, you look so cute as Cher!!

I must admit to being a HUGE Clueless fan--LOVED the movie and will watch it any chance I get. I'm very excited there will be a sequel...and yet I can't imagine what will happen in it...hmmm.

Did you ever see Alicia Siverstone's TV show Miss Match? I really liked it, but it was cancelled.

Oh...and LOVE the desert island question--it even features in my current manuscript. :)

Thanks for the news!

I think if it was a desert island I would have sprung for the DVD version

A Clueless sequel?? I am sitting at my desk, pretending to work, eyebrows reaching for my fluorescent lights. Hell yeah! (And please, tv/movie people: don't screw up the classic!)

There will always be something about that movie. I watched it about 50 times the year it came out (I think I was about 13'ish), and I memorized every line--even the sexual/drug reference ones I didn't understand at the time. If I recall correctly, she wore approximately 40-45 outfits and had about 20-25 hairstyles. Yeah. I counted those, too.

And off the top of my head, just for fun:
"So I know you're probably thinking, 'Is this like a Noxema commercial or what?' But actually, I lead a way normal life for a teenage girl. I mean I get up, I brush my teeth, and I pick out my school clothes!" cue weird "fasion! turn to the left. Fashion! turn to the right" song as she scours her digitalized wardrobe.

ah, memories ... You have inspired another trip down "As If" lane for me.

I thought for sure a pair of heels were going to be on that desert island list.

I did love this movie when it came out, even if I was slightly *cough* older than you were at the time.

She was a total pill and yet so charming, you couldn't help but like her. And when she didn't figure out that dude was gay, cracked me up.

But I admit, when I think of a sequal, I expect Char to me a MOM. LOL!
